Full Text

Railroad Accident.
Tuesday a north bound freight train on the Decatur division of the Louisville and Nashville and Great Southern Railroad jumped the track at Franklin, twenty miles south of this city. The engine was badly damaged, turned on its side and at last accounts remained where it "fell by the roadside." The other trains had to transfer passengers, and the track has been moved around the engine. We did not learn the cause of the accident which most likely was due to an open switch or a broken rail. Railroad officials would promote the interest of the roads by giving the proper information of all accidents to newspapers, which in the absence of such, must rely greatly on rumors.
