Full Text
The funeral of Red Jacket, a celebrated Indian Warrior, took place on the 21st ultimo. The Buffalo Republican says several Indian warriors addressed the spectators at the grave, and that, judging from the trickling tears and occasional bursts of feeling from the audience, it was plain that the orators were dwelling upon scenes dear to many, and touching the hearts of their hearers in their unextinguished strains of native eloquence. This part of the ceremony was conducted by the Pagans, who seemed indifferent to all the religious services which followed. The body of this 'last of the chiefs' was then deposited in the earth, 'And they left him alone in his glory.'
