WOMAN'S CLUB.
Holds a Pleasant Meeting With Mrs. Aldrich.

Although the full number of the Woman's Club were not able to be present at the meeting held Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Aldrich, those who were present spent a most profitable and pleasant hour and a half together. This organization is several years old. If the good solid work done by these women were published it would present a great deal of valuable information on different literary subjects which they from time to time have collected. The program for the coming year is to be German Literature, taking it up from the very foundation. We all know how interesting as well as valuable is the folk-lore of all nations. "The universality of our folk-lore is marvelous. One of our lightly spoken proverbs may date back through thousands of years to Aesop; the next one uttered may go back only to Benjamin Franklin." Even our political folk-lore is of recent origin and possesses much significance. Such experience as log-rolling, pipe-laying, wire-pulling etc., refer humorously to a real experience which has become proverbial. Their little sketch is given upon request to give an idea of the character of the work done in the Woman's Club. As one delightful author says: "The folk-lore is delightful to the philosophic mind and to the generous heart. It enlarges the view of human life, and brings the individual into closer union with his fellow. It teaches the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man."
