Reading Between Lines in the Day's News of Casper.
We cannot spend too much money on schools if we spend it wisely.
Every cent we put into the education of our children is an investment for the future.
When Casper's new junior high school is finished our pride should not arise alone from the thought that here is a magnificent structure costing $700,000. We should think of how our youngsters will improve day by day in a pleasant and healthful atmosphere where everything possible has been done to facilitate the teaching they receive. That will be worth while.
Four divorce actions are now awaiting the consideration of the district court here. Look over the list and you will find that one couple was married in June, three years ago. They were wedded on the thirteenth of the month. But that explains nothing, even for the superstitious. How rapidly fades the fragrance of orange blossoms and how stings the pelting hail of rice for some people. Multitudes of sins are crowded into the "cruelties" and "desertion" complaints of divorce pleas. From day to day we live. And from day to day and from hour to hour we ought to be careful, sorrowful, cheerful and sacrificing. That would be heaven, indeed.
Legionnaires in Thermopolis were proud the other day to have charge of the military funeral for Harvey Pelham Vernon, veteran of the world famed Princess Pat regiment of Canadians. He had gone through the Great War, had stood out as a warrior among warriors, had been terribly gassed.
Vernon carried a distinguished record. He needed no heralds to trumpet his coming, to tell his name, to describe his personality. His was the impersonal glory, almost as glorious as that which bears high the "name" of the Unknown Soldier.
And with these attributes would be honor any nation which might be privileged to pay its last respects to him.
Without increasing his costs of operation to any appreciable extent Bob Meigh of Moneta raises sheep from which comes wool that brings higher prices than other sheepmen get. Blood will tell. In livestock, the higher the strain the greater will be the production and the higher the return. In people, the stauncher and cleaner the ancestral backing the better the brains and the finer the race.
You will make no comment on the fact that Mrs. Tex Wisdom has been appointed a forest ranger in Yellowstone park. If you do, it will probably concern her name or her good looks.
Ten years ago there would have been a riot had such a job been given a woman.
What we howl about this year we will approve of next year, or at least we shall be impassive about the change. We can scream about the home losing its mother and wife and all along we know we are really unafraid of such a disaster as that would be. Among the men it's the fear of having competition made keener that causes reproach of the job seekers among the ladies.
Old Faithful geyser quit geysing the other day. Yellowstone park almost threw a fit. For years that hot water fountain has sent its

steaming column skyward at periodical intervals.
Workmen blasting too near its orifice upset nature's plumbing.
Then-praise be to Allah-there was internal re-adjustment down below and Old Faithful is once again boiling over on schedule.
Imagine what the loss would be if this wonderful geyser were to be forever ruined. It is the most famous feature in Yellowstone park.
