Georgetown Corporation Election.

Messrs. Gales & Seaton,

Considering the triumphant exhibition made in the "Federal Republican" at the close of the last year's Corporation Election, in which but one republican was recognized—it will no doubt be gratifying to the friends of the administration to know, that the result this year is a decided republican majority, both in the upper and lower boards.

But for the manifest design of the article above referred to—which must be known to every body—the writer of this article never would have felt himself called upon to announce—“A republican majority in the corporation of Georgetown.”—And he will add, that but for the introduction of a political intolerance, which became manifest about a year ago, which produced the paragraph above alluded to; and which has been constantly busy in every succeeding event in which politics could be made to have any bearing—the republicans of Georgetown would never have consented to a contest, the almost necessary consequence of which is, a prostration of mutual confidence and harmony.—

When called upon to maintain "equal rights"—the republicans, instead of excluding, according to the example set them a year ago, their political opponents, selected two federal gentlemen for the upper, and four federal gentlemen for the lower boards—Evidencing thus their desire of harmony; and that state of social intercourse so essential to the well-being and happiness of society.

A Citizen of Georgetown.
