Full Text

The time approaches when we should take some steps to organize our party to meet our old enemy, the Democratic party who are now marshaling their forces under a new leader and false colors, with the hope of seducing some unsuspecting Republican into their ranks. Our banner was thrown to the breeze on the 6th day of June at Philadelphia, with the honored names of Grant and Wilson inscribed thereon, under whose leadership we propose to fight the battle out "if it takes all summer." Our leaders are men tried and true, who never lost a battle, who have always been found with their face to the foe, fighting treason in all its various forms.

Their successful administration of the Government for the last four years, inspires us with confidence in their ability to administer its affairs with equal success for the next four years to come. We, therefore, request all the old Grant Guards and as many more as chose to unite with us to meet at the Court House, in Washington, on Saturday evening next at 8 o'clock, for the purpose of organizing a Grant and Wilson Club, for the campaign. Good speakers will be present to enlighten us on the political topics of the day.
