Larceny And Forgery.—William Young was arrested on Friday afternoon charged with having, in October last, broken into the office of B. F. Smith & Co., No. 136 Seventh avenue, and taking thence two bills against the Manhattan Gas Co. for a considerable amount, and one bill for $125 against Ed. Ward Jones. This latter bill was presented for payment and Mr. Jones drew his check for that amount. This check was presented at the bank, and being indorsed B. F. Smith & Co. was promptly paid. It was afterward discovered that the indorsement was a forgery. Young was arrested on suspicion, and on being searched the two bills against the Manhattan Gas Co. were found in his possession. Justice Quackenbush committed the accused for examination.
