Full Text

A SOUND PRECEDENT ESTABLISHED.

At their meeting in Virginia last Tuesday evening, the Democratic Central Committee of Storey County, resolved to drop from the ticket the names of all candidates who neglected to pay their assessments by a certain date. This step is one which will meet with the approval of all fair-minded men. Candidates have heretofore been very dilatory in this respect, some neglecting to pay until toward the close of the campaign, while others failed to pay anything at all. In either case the operations of the committee would be embarrassed if not seriously crippled, and the success of the ticket thereby endangered. This action of the Democratic Committee will establish a precedent that will be quoted in all future campaigns in this State.
