Extracts of a letter to the Editor of the Baltimore Patriot--dated

NORFOLK, SEPT. 11.

Mr. Munroe--Having observed in the papers of your city, a list of the officers of the frigate Constellation, now preparing for sea, and being personally acquainted with many of them, I take liberty of giving you a more correct list of those officers--They are, Capt. Wadsworth ; Lts. Shubrick, Stallings, Crabb, Tippet, Sawyer, and Stribling ; Sailing Master De la Roche ; Dr. Soroston; Purser Fitzgerald ; Chaplain Chase : and 1st Lt. of Marines Edelin ——The Midshipmen are, Saunders, Howell, Lowndes, Palmer, Keogh, Kuhn, Pinkney, Sterret, Handy, Starr, Randolph, Turner, Green; Richardson, Carr, Wright, Cocke, Farlie, Gay, Marston, Steed and Hosack, and Doctor's Mates Beatty and Nelson.

Capt. Nicholson, Lt. Stevens, and Dr. Williams, go out in the frigate; the former to take charge of the ship under Com. Perry, the second to be 2d Lt. and the Doctor to join the Nonpareil sloop.

The ship is now in very fine order with a crew, and will sail, wind and weather permitting. Sept. 12. Her precise destination is unknown. The Peacock will be ready in about 10 days more, she goes to the Mediterranean.

The ship of the line building here progresses fast, her upper deck beams are in, she will be launched in the spring, and will be one of the finest yet built.

Com. Sinclair is commander afloat, and Com. Chauncey of the Navy Yard, and we now have here a number of naval characters.

Capt. Wadsworth and Lieut Shubrick will join the John Adams, and Com. Perry and Lieut. Turner join the Constellation when the Ships meet.
