Moody Declines to Join in Legislature Criticism of Mrs. Hoover
AUSTIN, Texas, July 6.-Although opposed to mingling of races on the basis of social equality, Gov. Dan Moody. of Texas, has declined to join the Legislature in criticism by resolution of Mrs. Hoover for entertaining Mrs. DePriest, wife of the negro Congressman at a tea.
"Any part of the resolution which may be constructed as personal criticism of Mrs. Hoover, does not have my personal approval and I decline to have any part in it," said Gov. Moody
The resolution has the Governor's hearty approval "insofar as it condemns the custom that brings two races into contact on the same social plane."
