Skating with friends, a 13-year-old boy was killed Friday when struck by an automobile at Lithonia, Ga.
Capt. Fred Howard, of the DeKalb County Police Department, identified the victim as Charles Will Smith, son of Mrs. Carrie Smith on Smoky Road, Lithonia.
The DeKalb County officer listed the driver of the automobile as Charles H. Moon, 19, of Conyers, Ga.
According to Capt. Howard several boys were skating on Klondike Road, near Lithonia. Moon, driving his car on Klondike Road, saw the boys and stopped.
The boys cleared the road as the car came to a stop. Then suddenly young Smith zig-zagged in front of the car as the driver started off.
He was hit before the driver could stop again, the police reported.
The Atlanta Daily World learned Friday night that the victim sustained head injuries.
He was a student in the Elementary Department of Bruce Street High School, Lithonia.
