SHIPYARDS TO HAVE BOOM IS PREDICTED NOW

Chairman of Federal Maritime Commission Makes Statement, Portland

PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 11.

American shipyards will have a boom "for a number of years, perhaps many years as the result of plans for an enlarged Merchant Marine." This statement was made here today by Joseph Kennedy, Chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission, who has arrived here to address the Columbia Empire Industries, Inc., and Oregon Manufacturers' Association.

The address will be given here tonight and then Kennedy will go to Seattle.
