C. H. Wilson, of Dayton, Has His Wife
Arrested for Loitering with a Colored
Man.
On Wednesday L. H. Wilson arrived in
Springfield from Dayton, and going at once
to the police court, filed an affidavit against
Emma Wilson and Charles Dempsey, charging
them with loitering. A warrant was
issued for their arrest, and they were station
housed late yesterday afternoon.
Wilson is a respectable workingman, residing
in Dayton and the woman whom he
had arrested is his wife.
Dempsey is a
colored man who is said to be a worthless
character, and by some means he has enticed
the woman away from her home and
husband.
Wilson told a REPUBLIC
representative this
morning that several weeks ago his wife left her home
and ran away with the negro, Dempsey.
They went to Wilmington, Clinton county.
and from there to Columbus. Finally his
wife went back to Dayton and besought
her husband to take her home again. She
made good promises and he finally consented.
That was about a week ago. On
Tuesday, when Wilson went home to dinner,
his wife was gone, and, upon making a
little inquiry, he learned that she had come
to Springfield with Dempsey.
The rest of the story is known.
Wilson
says that if necessary he will appear against
the pair.
He declares that he will never again take
his wife back.
