JACK IN THE BOX
The fireworks display at the State Fair next month will be magnificent if the program now arranged is carried out. There will be no sky rockets as it has been demonstrated there is considerable danger arising from the descending sticks.
Messrs. Tilton & Co. of Boston, who have the contract, have prepared a very elaborate display.
There will be between twenty-five and forty pieces shown each night and for "City of Providence Day" evening "The Landing of Roger Williams" is to be shown. "Governor's Day" evening will have a series of novelties, including the new State House and portraits of Governor Brown and other officials.
"Merchant's Day" evening will have for its star number "The Industrial Trust Building" in various colors and the "Falls of Niagara" which piece is 50 feet high and 70 feet long, one of the finest pieces a pyrotechnist ever originated. "Weeping Willow Bombs" and the magnificent rendering in blazing fire of "The Old Oaken Bucket."
Monday ("Opening Day,") evening has some novel devices and the tribute to the State Fair itself which Messrs Tilton have prepared, will be a brilliant spectacle. Friday is Children's Day, and the juveniles will have a great bill for their enjoyment, including some comic devices, illustrative of darky life, etc.-"Who Stole Dem Chickens" and "Jack in the Box." The "Dear Old Home" is said to be one of the most realistic things ever witnessed.
Ample accommodations exist on every hand to enjoy thoroughly those evening entertainments and there will be no danger, whatever.
