Sims Garrett, Jr., candidate for State Treasurer in the June 28th Democratic Primary, voiced his appreciation this week for the "thousands of pledges of support I have received from Georgians since my announcement for Treasurer"
"I am deeply grateful," he said, "to the many fine people from throughout the State who have wired, called, written or in person assured me of their support. I can only express my appreciation in words now, but when I am treasurer I shall try to justify their support by diligent and conscientious application to the duties of the office."
The Baldwin County business man, who is well known in civic and political circles in nearly every county in Georgia, qualified for Treasurer with the announcement that he would strive to bring unity and harmony to the Treasurer's office.
Garrett apparently was referring to the constant bickering which has gone on over a period of years between the incumbent Treasurer and various other State officials.
