LEWISTON, MAINE, Aug. 23, 1882.

Dear Editor:--I see by your valuable paper that Hon. F. M. Fogg, of this State is advertised to speak in your Congressional District. I am glad you have secured the services of such an able advocate of our principles. Mr. Fogg is the finest speaker in this State, and I think one of the ablest and most eloquent men in the country. He is now engaged on the stump here, and is having crowded houses everywhere.

On his arrival from the State of Wisconsin, the people of Lewiston gave him one of the finest ovations ever received by any man. In Auburn, where he has resided for some time, the people turned out en masse to hear him speak in Auburn Hall, the largest Auditorium in the city. His speech lasted three long hours, and was received with storms of applause. He makes votes everywhere he speaks. I wish you would give this space in your columns, as I want your people to know that they are going to listen to no common man, so they will give him large houses and have no cause to be sorry they did not hear him after he is gone.

Yours truly,

M. F. HASKELL.
