Connolly Speaks Out for Revision Of Neutrality Act

CHICAGO (UP) — Rep. Connolly, D-Tex., called for modification of neutrality act to permit U. S. merchant vessels even in the waters of war in conformance with the traditional freedom of the seas. Addressing the annual convention American Bankers association, he condemned truculent German attitudes and urged U. S. power be utilized to the aid of nations at war. Neutrality act bars U. S. vessels entering ports of nations at war. Connolly said These are our undeniable rights under the law; shall we surrender them? In Chicago with proposal "unimpeachable American merchant vessels he declared American merchant ships that are ruthlessly attacked upon while on lawful business be allowed to arm necessary self-defense for defense of human lives upon addition the defense of justice and their rights.
