Rumor Of Negro
Buying Homes
Starts Trouble
UNIONDALE, L. I. - (ANP)
A racist had a field day here this week when he tossed a fire bomb into the home of Kurt Masuck.
The fire bomb, a gallon jug filled with kerosene, was broken as the racist threw it through the dinette window in the house.
However, Masuck managed to get to a burning kerosene - soaked rag thrown in after the jug and extinguished the flames before they could spread to other parts of the house.
Detectives John Rogers of the Nassau County-police-found five identical notes scattered outside the house and, on questioning the neighbors, learned that the rumor was "rife" that Masuck would sell his home to a real estate concern which would in turn sell it to Negroes.
Mrs. Masuck told police that a resident of the neighborhood had threatened her on the street, swearing that he would kill Mrs. Masuck and her family if the home were sold to Negroes. Upon police questioning, the man in question "proved that he was elsewhere when the bomb was thrown'.
Meanwhile, a police guard has been placed around the Masuck to prevent a recurrence of the incident.
