Full Text

THE LEADER is glad to see "Old Zach" Chandler heading once more for the United States senate. He was one of the country's truest friends in the hours of peril and struggle for perpetuity. As secretary of the interior his administration was characterized by honesty and a fixed, steady, successful purpose to conduct the affairs of his department in favor of "the greatest good to the greatest number." His enemies accuse him of imbibing too freely. If some of our "statesmen" would drink from the brand used by Old Zach it might possibly be better for the country.
