It is with pleasure we inform our readers of the appointment of the Hon. John Pickering, Esq, to that important office of Chief Justice of New-Hampshire.

In this State: we are sorry to add, he has only so far accepted the important trust, as to give his determination at the next session of the General-Court, who it is hoped will order a reward equal to the trust, and enable a gentleman to fill the important office whose superior abilities, unshaken integrity, disinterestedness and love of justice, must render his appointment truly pleasing to his fellow-citizens, in whose confidence he largely shares.
