BOSTON, March 15.

From the West-Indies.

Capt. Davis arrived here on Saturday last from Port Republican informs, that the negroes, in evacuating that place took with them a number of white people, which they massacred as soon as they were out of the reach of the enemy ; and that as they retreated through the country, they burnt and destroyed every thing in their way. The town was not destroyed ; nor were there much resistance opposed to the landing of the French. Capt. D. further informs, that previous to his sailing, intelligence had arrived there of the entire destruction of the port of Leogane, and the massacre of the white people. In consequence of the arrival of the French troops at Port Republican, provisions of all kinds were in great demand.

Extract of a letter from Port Republican, dated Feb. 12.

"On the 3d instant we had the arrival of a French Frigate, on board of which were dispatches for Toussaint ; the officer who was charged with the delivery of the packet, was immediately arrested on his coming ashore. On the 4th, in the morning, five sail of the line and two frigates more, appeared under the command of Admiral La Touche. On the 5th they landed four thousand troops, under the command of Gen. Boudet, who took possession of the town and the forts round it ; the negroes made some small resistance, but did not stand their ground more than three hours. We further understand, that Gen. LeClerc brother-in-law to Bonaparte, is at Cape Francois with 25 sail of the line, and 17,000 troops ; he is Commander in Chief of the expedition, and will also act as Capt. Gen. of the Island of St. Domingo. We are just informed, they have effected a landing of the troops at the Cape; but that the negroes have destroyed part of the town. From the great force already landed in the different parts of the Island, and a second division which is hourly expected we hope every thing will be tranquil here in a short time."
