The Governor made a personal appearance before a joint meeting of the House-Senate Finance Committees last night in behalf of his budget recommendations. These don't go nearly so far as some of the legislators would wish and the Governor was bombarded with questions calculated to bring out explanations of the reasons behind the recommendations.
With the appropriations bill in the mill, the General Assembly will settle down to some real work. The fireworks will, as usual, come in the closing weeks, when the rush comes to finish up the session's work and go home.
