NEWSPAPER AT HOUMA.—We take pleasure in stating that a weekly journal is on the eve of being established at Houma, Parish of Terrebonne, by Messrs. E. W. Blake & Co. The editor, Mr. Blake, is not unknown to us, having at a former time been connected in the editorial management of the Southern Sentinel published at Plaquemine, wherein he exhibited evidences of a writer of no inferior merits. Mr. B. is at present a legal licentiate, practicing in the Courts of the 6th Judicial District, but soon intends making Houma his home, and the future field for the practice of his profession. Mr. Blake also represented the parish of Iberville in the Lower House of the General Assembly of the State during the session of 1850, and well did he discharge the duties of that important mission.

The first number of the paper will appear on or about the 4th of July next. The materials have already been purchased, and will be forthcoming immediately. We cordially wish this new enterprise every success, and doubt not that the reading public of our sister parish, will extend to it their generous support.
