Sale of Wilkes Booth's Theatrical Wardrobe

From the Quebec Mercury July 18.

The theatrical wardrobe belonging to John Wilkes Booth the assassin of President Lincoln was sold here to-day by order of the Vice Admiralty Court. The sale took place for the benefit of the parties who saved the effects from the wreck of the schooner Marie Victoria whereon they were shipped at Montreal last fall for Richmond via Nassau. The prices which the articles brought were far beyond their intrinsic value for they were greatly damaged by sea water and the principal purchasers were persons buying on speculation. His dressing case nearly in pieces was knocked down at $15; many of the spoiled dramatic costumes at $20 and $25 each and his stage swords at $4 75 each.
