Full Text

SEATTLE WILL BE A GAINER.

Yesterday J. A. Thompson was found on Third street near James and said: "I am confident that everybody will go right to work and rebuild the fire-desolated portion of the city better than ever. The history of the burning of Boston, Chicago, Portland and other cities will repeat itself here with the difference that with the wonderful vitality, grit, enterprise and spirit of the people, Seattle will recover from the blow received much quicker than any of the cities I have named. So long as we have such great confidence in ourselves the people of the country will have confidence in us. You may write it down that Seattle will rather gain than lose in her commercial importance."
