HOLY SPIES!!—Sometime in September, (says the Baltimore American) two French gentlemen arrived at Vera Cruz, said to be on a mercantile speculation, and proceeded to the City of Mexico. Some circumstances excited a suspicion that they were spies sent out by the Holy Alliance, and the government ordered them arrested. On being interrogated they pretended that their errand was simply mercantile—but on examining their baggage, papers in cyphers were discovered, and on being asked for the key to the cypher, they said it was lost and they could not remember it. It was however ascertained that these men, one a Captain in the Navy and the other a Colonel of Engineers, were emissaries sent out from France to induce the Mexicans to revolt, and give from their King a Prince of the Bourbon family. They were immediately imprisoned.
