NEW-YORK, FEBRUARY 13

EXTRACT from the Journal of ASSEMBLY.

Thursday, February 1, 1787.

Mr. Denning from the Committee appointed to report what arrears are due from this State to the United States, upon requisitions previous to the second day of August last; reported the following State of Facts:

Fifty-four thousand dollars, the quota of this State by the requisition of the 10th September, 1782, is by the act of Congress of the 12th October, 1785, receivable in the Treasury of the United States in indents of interest. That by the act of Congress of the 27th September, 1785, this State is to pay into the Treasury of the United States, 170,990 60-90ths dollars, in indents of interest. That there is now in the Treasury indents of interest, and principal certificates to procure indents, sufficient to discharge both this sum, and the before-mentioned sum of 54,000 dollars; but that the indisposition of the Treasurer has prevented his effecting the payment thereof.

That this State has credit in the books of the Treasury of the United States, on the last mentioned requisition, to the 20th of Sept. last, including a surplus of 13,586 37-90ths dollars on the requisition of April 1784; as per Register's return - 35,497 64-90ths.

Advanced by the Treasurer 8,000.

Also a further advance, 12,500.

To which add the amount of pensions & partial support to invalids agreeable to the several acts of Congress & laws of this State, as per acct. from the Auditor of this State to 1st of June last amounting to £23,520 7 1d. equal to - - - 58,900 80-90ths

114,798 54-90ths.

From the above deduct the said specie requisition of 7th September 1785, 85,495 30-90ths.

Balance in favor of the State of New-York on requisitions previous to 2d August, 1786, - 29,303 24-90ths.

Ordered, That the said report be entered on the Journals of this House.
