Of the 18th, received yesterday, state that the British Colonel M'Dowall had arrived at Michilimackinac (Lake Huron) with 24 batteaux laden with ordnance, stores, &c. and a detachment of troops and seamen; that this important post had been placed in the most formidable state of defence; and that a large body of Indians had arrived there and received their presents. This article must excite concern for the events in that quarter.
It is added, that Commodore Yeo was taking in stores at Kingston for Niagara. A Quebec paper of the 14th says Captain Downie will take temporary command of the lake fleet, Commodore Yeo being out of health.
