Lightning Bolt During Storm Wednesday Night
Struck it and Tore Away Part of Chimney.
Kenton, July 17:—During the severe storm at Kenton, on Wednesday afternoon, the residence of Dr. W.H. Cooper was struck by lightning and the chimney torn apart. A person standing on the Cooper porch heard the crash and looking up barely escaped in time to prevent being hit by the bricks. The storm was one of the severest of the vicinity. The lightning flashes were terrific and the thunder heavy. Much rain fell and farmers have received a severe set back in their threshing. Indeed the continual showery and damp weather, it is feared, will ruin wheat and fruit. Plums and grapes are rotting and peaches are not showing up as they should.
