The progress and prosperity of this
county may be illustrated by an example or two, two years ago Mr. Daggett,
near here had eighty acres of land
broken which yields this year over
1,500 bushels of wheat, worth fifty cents
per bushel now, and will unquestionably bring 80 cents before spring and
this is not an isolated case, the country
is covered with similar instances all
going to show the true progress of Northern Iowa in material wealth.
The truth is any young man with the
energy that marked the history of the
pioneers-of Western N York, can come to Northern Iowa, with means sufficient
to build a cabin, fence and plow eighty
acres of land and in two years, he can
pay for it, living in the mean time like a
king.
