COMPLETE WORK ON TRAILS
IN THIS DISTRICT
Forest Service trail crews consisting of Bob Mervyn and Cal Olds of Wrangell, finished work on trails closest to Petersburg this week.
The crew flew in to Petersburg Lake on Monday with a load of lumber, tools, camp gear and the skiff provided from Dingell-Johnson funds this spring. Forest Service has not been asked to assemble the skiff, which it is expected will be completed by local sportsmen.
Work at Petersburg Lake consisted of erecting a sanitary toilet and garbage pit, completing the application of metal roofing to the shelter, and regular maintenance of the upper portion of the trail from
Martinsen's dairy.
Trails already maintained this year include Wrangell Reservoir and Rainbow Falls in the Wrangell Island area, Kunk Creek. Anan Creek, Virginia Lake, Ideal Cove Lakes and Colp Lake.
To be done next week, completing the work for the year, will be Castle River, Harvey Lake and Kah Sheets Lake trails.
