ONLY AN ARMED HOUSE IS SAFE FROM HIM!
The Part Of The Post In Today's Chaotic World
BY CHARLES C. RALLS
Commander, Department of Washington
THE chaos which is now gripping the entire world demands a strong United States of America. Our nation, more than ever, is crying for leadership, and that leadership must and should come from men who have served our nation in time of war.
It is imperative therefore, that if our form of government is to survive, that the veterans unite and give to our nation, effective and intelligent leadership. It is of paramount importance, then, that each Post in the Department become active in civic and state activities, and take an increasing interest in Legislative and International problems.
In order to be felt in these matters of such great importance, we must turn our attention to membership. Our strength in providing necessary leadership is only as great as our membership. I strongly urge every District and Post Commander to re-double their efforts in increasing the active membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The strength of your organization as demonstrated by its membership, I assure you, will prove to be a constant source of great personal satisfaction.
It is the desire of your Department, that each member forthwith secure the application of at least one member in our organization.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars must take an active interest in the strong National Defense Program. They must take a stand on the international situation. In keeping these matters of such great importance in mind, I am sure that the securing of one new member by each present member will not constitute too great a chore.
