However erroneous the People of Boston may be in their Ideas of Liberty, and the exemption of the Power of the British Parliament, yet the extreme honesty of the meanest of them surpasses Conception, of which the following Proof should be made known to their Mother Country, where such different Principles prevail. A Fire suddenly broke out at Capt. Jordan's, Commander of his Majesty's Ship Fowey, his Plate, Lady's Jewels, Trinkets, and all the Furniture were thrown out of Windows among a very numerous Mob, with little expectation of recovering a single Article; but to his astonishment he has not lost the Value of Six-Pence, for the next Day the whole was brought him by various Persons, even part of a Bottle of Wine in a Decanter which they were drinking at the time the Alarm was given. How different the daily conduct of their abandoned Parent!
