From away down in puritan New England comes a voice naming the Rev. Henry Ward Beecher as the successor of the dead Mormon prophet. The nomination of this Brooklyn saint also carries with it the right also to administer spiritual consolation to the forty odd mourning widows of the defunct polygamist. As the saints of Salt Lake are understood to be casting about for a suitable successor able to fill every requirement of their creed, there seems to be an eminent fitness in the above suggestion—physically, morally, by education and by training.
