Is it not very surprising, says a correspondent, that the time of the evacuation of New York, is so very indefinite, and that all the other places, either in possession of the French, Spaniards or British are fixed?

It is very fortunate, says another correspondent, for the cause of humanity, that the war has terminated in favor of America: because we shall not experience a repetition of those shocking scenes of public and private butchery, which disgrace the British annals of 1715 and 1745. For had the tyrant George III, whose wickedness and folly have precipitated the down fall of his country, succeeded in his nefarious schemes, a ferocious soldiery, accompanied by Indians and Hessians innumerable, would have been set loose on the good people of these United States.
