CITY TOURNEY ENTRIES PASS 1,000 MARK

A world's record for entries in a city bowling tournament was established when more than 1,000 teams filed entry blanks to compete in the Milwaukee Bowling Assn. tournament to open Saturday.

Secretary John Kalupa was swamped with entries Saturday and yesterday and today's mail brought approximately 150 more entries.

Before the deluge Saturday noon, the entries were barely over the 600 mark.

Booster teams will take the alleys for the first attack on the wood at 1:30 p. m. at the Langtry-McBride alleys. At night 48 Eagle teams will roll. The tourney will close May 15.

A straight bowling tournament will be held at the South Side Recreation alleys, 5th and Lincoln Aves., April 15 to May 29. Five men, two men and individuals will roll across six alleys.

A $5 sweepstakes will be rolled at the same alleys from April 15 to May 22 with a guaranteed first prize of $150.

Becker's 18th annual handicap bowling tournament will open April 15 and continue to May 20 at Becker's alleys, 1080 Teutonia Ave.

A sweepstakes tournament for bowlers with an average of 180 or under will be held at the Forest Home Arcade, 970 Forest Home Ave., Saturday and Sunday.
