FEB. II, 1791.
Congress will most assuredly rise the 2d March. As several of the States have not yet chosen Representatives, the first session of the second Congress will not be until November next. You will see that the doors of the House have been closed for several days, and I suppose you can conjecture the object-its accomplishment I have no doubt of, however unfortunate it may be at the present time--I mean as to the expense. New-Jersey sends four Representatives to Congress--the four new ones, from the returns we have seen published in the papers, is likely to be, the Hon. Messrs. Boudinot, Clark, Dayton & Linn. South-Carolina--Hon. David Ramsay. Esq. is chosen President of the Senate, and Hon. Jacob Read, Esq. Speaker of the House. The number of inhabitants in S. Carolina, is 126,131.
