Various traits are mentioned in the French papers in honour of the character of the Bourbons; the following among others: The Duke de Bourbon learnt that an old valet de chambre of his father, the Prince de Conde, lived in a small room, in the faubourgs. He went to the place afoot, alone, and without decoration, and waited some time for the return of the man, who had gone out but to walk in the Luxembourg Garden, and to read the Gazette. On his arrival, he at once recognised the Duke, kissed his hands, and exclaimed, "Is it you, my Prince? What! Your Highness?" The Duke embraced him, and said, "My Father and I have expected you every day. Not seeing you, I determined to come and hunt for you myself, to offer you in the name of my father, an apartment in his palace. It is not so large as formerly; yet sufficient to reassemble around us our good old friends and domestics." The next day M. and Madame G. were placed in a well-furnished little apartment in the Palais Bourbon.
