Full Text

C. Rath and A. J. Johnson are two neighboring ranchers who live on the Coeur d'Alene river near Old Mission. Of late their friendly feelings towards each other have not been of the most peaceful and quiet nature. The other day Rath concluded to take a shot at his neighbor and after two trials, neither of which resulted seriously, he concluded that his aim was too poor and quit. Officer Bechtel went up the river and arrested him on the charge of assault with the intent to commit murder and brought him to town. Justice Welsh examined into the case Tuesday and discharged the prisoner. Johnson, the principal witness, failed to appear.
