What is this article about?
In a letter dated April 25, 1847, from Buskirk's Bridge, Ezra Smith corrects the Albany Evening Journal's report that Major W.W.S. Bliss, assistant adjutant general under Gen. Taylor, is from New Hampshire. He states Bliss is from Whitehall, NY, son of Capt. John Bliss, and requests the error be fixed to honor the Empire State.

Buskirk's Bridge, April 25, 1847.
Dear Sir:--I notice in Saturday's Evening Journal that "Major W.W.S. Bliss, whose distinguished services as Assistant Adjutant General of Gen. Taylor's Army, is a native of New Hampshire." This is not the fact: he is a native of Whitehall, in the good Whig County of Washington, the son of John Bliss, who was a captain in the last war, and subsequently associated with me in business at Whitehall. After the decease of the father I procured through others a Cadet's warrant for the son. I should be glad to hear that some good had come out of New Hampshire, but am unwilling that they should have any claim to the honor and bravery of a son of the Empire State.
Please to correct the error in such a way as you deem proper.
Yours Truly,
EZRA SMITH
T. Weed, Esq.

major w.w.s. bliss is a native of whitehall, washington county, ny, not new hampshire, and the letter urges correction to attribute his honor to the empire state.
