ALMOST TANTAMOUNT
TO AN INSURRECTION

ISTANBUL, Turkey, Feb. 6. - A religious uprising which was considered almost tantamount to an insurrection, took President Mustafa Kemal Pasha to Broussa, where Orthodox citizens attacked a Muezzin (Public Crier), who in giving his call to prayer, used Turkish instead of Arabic. The President ordered the saying of prayers in Turkish instead of Arabic several months ago. Drastic action by the government against the ringleaders of the movement, with the possibility that some might be hanged was expected.
