Negro Admits He Shot Girl

Paul Rio, negro, faces a one to two year term at state prison in Carson City as the result of having shot Anna Rose at 2 a.m. yesterday in a resort in Block Sixteen.

Rio admits he had been drinking, and that he fired the shot which landed in the dancing girl's thigh. He is expected to plead guilty at 10 a.m. today, having waived preliminary hearing.

The charge on which Rio probably will be sentenced if he pleads guilty is that of assault with a deadly weapon to do great bodily harm without any provocation, according to District Attorney Harley A. Harmon.

Anna Rose, painfully but not seriously injured, the bullet only grazing the bone, is in Las Vegas hospital.

The negro escaped yesterday after the affair, but was caught later in the morning by officers and placed in jail.
