Full Text

On Tuesday Lord North sat at the Treasury Board, as first Lord. It is said a difference of opinion concerning a certain inquiry, which the Ministry could not agree about, was the cause of the Duke of Grafton's throwing up; and that all the rest of the party resolve to keep their places, if they can. Others consider Lord North as a mere locum tenens. However, it is beyond doubt that a great personage had no hand in the Minister's dismission, which was entirely his own act and deed. It is said his Grace saw his great hopes daily slipping from him, and thought it was better to come down himself than to be shamefully pulled down.
