THE THIRTEENTH AND TWENTY-EIGHTH REGIMENTS READY TO MARCH.
The order received on Saturday for two full regiments has been promptly responded to. On Sunday the recruiting office at the Armory was opened, and many enrolled their names. Yesterday there was a continuous rush from morning till night the clerks having as much as they could do to take the names and give the orders for blankets, shoes, &c. The Thirteenth Regiment will be full 1,000 strong, and among the number are many men of wealth, and sons of men in honorable positions. It was expected that the uniform of the men would be ready by the time they were ordered to march, but it was found to be impossible to supply all, and it is promised that they will be sent on to Washington as soon as they can be made up. The men are all young, active, and able to do their duty in any emergency.
The printing offices have contributed their full quota, and The Star two. Among the privates in the 13th, The Daily News furnishes four men, The Eagle three.
Company A., is Mr Charles W. Fuller, who bore a commission as 2d Lieutenant in the Massachusetts Regiment during the Mexican war. A son of ex-Mayor Lambert, of Alderman Dayton, of the Rev. Fyan M.
After Smith, a tried soldier, is the commander. The and wealthy citizens are in the ranks of the 13th. Col. Jolvon; and O Udr ..C "our most prominent members of the 28th Regiment mostly reside in Williamsburgh. They also have full ranks, and will parade 1,000 as good men as ever marched. As these regiments are composed exclusively of Brooklyn men, great interest is manifested in their behalf. They are ordered to march this morning at 8 o'clock.
Volunteering is going on briskly. Mr. John Dunne, for many years a Sergeant in the 44th Regiment British), and who participated in the battles of the Crimea and the siege and surrender of Sevastopol, has opened a rendezvous for volunteers in Fulton street, opposite the City Hall.
A public meeting is to be held in the City Hall Park to-morrow night for the purpose of forming a brigade of Irish volunteers. It will doubtless be accomplished.
The Union Ferry Company have guaranteed to pay the salaries of all their employees who enlist, during their absence, and their positions will be retained for them until they return.
A great Union meeting is to be held on Fort Greene this afternoon, at 4 o'clock.
