CURIOUS RAILWAY WRECK

Cattle Were Killed, Grain Was Spilled, but Eggs Remained Unbroken.

Seven cars in the center of a full train of special freight on the Burlington road recently left the track near Plano, Ills., the result of a broken flange, and were tumbled over into a ditch.

Four of the cars were laden with grain, two contained cattle and one was packed from the floor to the roof with eggs. The grain cars were splintered and the grain scattered all about. Many of the cattle in two of the cars were killed, but the car containing the eggs although it turned over twice before landing in the ditch, preserved its contents intact. Investigation showed that not an egg was broken.

The Burlington puts this down as one of the most remarkable wrecks on the road. The tracks were cleared in three hours and traffic resumed.—Chicago Times-Herald.
