Full Text

Extract of a Letter from Paris, July 20.

The principal reason for thinking a peace is still distant, is, that the King having promised the King of Spain to concur in all his designs relative to Italy, his catholic Majesty, whose installation surprises all Europe, has engaged to furnish us with the necessary supplies for carrying on the war till the fate of arms shall bring our enemies to reason. Several large sums have been lately brought into the King's coffers, by the channel of Dutch merchants. And we are told that the King has sworn, that if England doth not recede immediately from the rigour of her pretensions, he will bear no more of peace, or congress, or negociations.
