The last intelligence from Europe, confirm the accounts, that the French had been defeated by the Russians. The action took place at Pultusk. The French commenced the attack under the command of Gen. Souchet, at the head of 15,000 men, on the Russian Gen Benningsen, who sustained the assaults of the French, with only 5000 men —but receiving several reinforcements,the right wing of the French, were totally defeated. The action commenced at eleven o'clock, in the morning, and lasted till dark. the army engaged amounted to 50,000 men, commanded by Bonaparte's celebrated Generals, Murat. Davoust and Lannes.
The French state, their loss at 5000- The Russians retired to Rozaw, and Bonaparte did not think it prudent to follow them. The Emperor had not returned to Paris, but still continued with the army.
