THE CROPS.

From personal observation we are enabled to state, that the crop of corn on Appomattox river and the adjoining counties, promises to be more abundant than has been known for a number of years. The tobacco is also excellent, and the quantity very little below an ordinary crop. Indeed, as far as our information extends, the farmers, next year, will want nothing—unless—it is a market for the surplus produce, with the proceeds of which to pay their debts. How happy, how enviable their condition... With the freest government, and the mildest system of laws upon the face of the earth, they are blessed with abundance, easy in their circumstances, and proud in the enjoyment of the inestimable privileges of freemen. Long may this happiness, these blessings, be the pride, the boast of the American people.
