Thus was a Fleet of fine Ships in five Hours reduced to Ashes, viz. five of 84 Guns, four of 74, six of 50 and 60 Guns, with two Frigates : Saved a Ship of 62 Brass Guns, that I am to have the Honour to command. being commissioned, but can't yet take possession from my Weakness, with six Gallies saved also. Soon after I was gone to Bed in the utmost Pain, not forgetting to drink a Pint of strong Punch, the victorious Commodore Greig came on board and went through the same Salutes as myself from the Count and Prince, was likewise acquainted that he might look on himself as-an Admiral, the Count's Limits not so far extending immediately to order him to hoist his Flag, and that a little Delay only added more Laurels.
