The Statira, 38, which brought out the unfortunate and ill-fated Generals Packenham and Gibbs from England, has been cast away and lost in the West Indies. This ship has been long on the American station, and was off New-London for several months, where she was challenged, by Com. Decatur, to fight the Macedonian. She was then commanded by Capt. H. Stackpole, who was afterwards killed in a duel. Capt. Swaine then took command. [A Jamaica paper of the 3d ult. received at Baltimore, states, that the British frigate Statira, Capt. Swaine, convoying several transports, having on board the 27th regt. from Bermuda, for the Mississippi, struck on a shoal off Henega, and went to pieces—her crew were taken on board the transports and carried to Jamaica.]
